A new search is planned this weekend for a young Minot girl missing for three months.

The family of Reachelle Smith has asked a team of dog handlers to repeat some searches using their specially-trained dogs.

Local law enforcement officials say they have no new leads or information
that would make them request such a new search, but they welcome the
effort.

Dog handlers from South Dakota and Iowa are expected to be searching for the body of the three-year-old girl tomorrow and Monday.

Reachelle disappeared in mid-May and police issued an Amber Alert for her, believing she may have been abducted by a friend of her mother and aunt, Leigh Cowen.

It was later revealed that the girl had last been seen several days before the
missing person report was made to police and Cowen had disappeared with her.

Then, the day after the Amber Alert was issued, Cowen's body was found in his van and it was determined he had killed himself.

Since then, many searches have been conducted around where the van was found on the Upper Souris Wildlife Refuge, and in places around Minot where officials received tips to look.

Local officials say they expect at least two search dogs to be part of the new search tomorrow and Monday.
