(AP) Minot Police Captain Al Hanson says he's asked for volunteers to walk some areas around the city as the search continues for three-year-old Reachelle Smith of Minot.

Hanson says the search will include storm sewers and aircraft to fly over some areas to make sure they're covered.

Ward County Sheriff Vern Erck says county officials will be searching north of the Minot Air Force Base, in areas where a van belonging to 22-year-old Leigh Cowen was seen days before his body was found in the Upper Souris National Wildlife Refuge.

Reachelle has been missing for two weeks. Authorities had thought she was with Cowen, but they've found no sign of her.

Hanson says three bloodhounds brought in from southern NorthDakota, Minnesota and South Dakota failed to turn up any trace of the girl over the weekend.

He says bloodhounds and their handlers searched the entire length of the Mouse River in Minot yesterday morning. He says the dogs will be available again if needed.

Hanson says he's still hoping Reachelle will be found alive, but the hopes diminish as time passes.
